SDA AND SIL SUPPORT ROLES

Daily Support in an SDA Home

Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) is accessible housing for eligible NDIS participants with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs. Holistic Care NSW provides SIL, personal or clinical support within SDA homes but is not the property owner, developer or registered SDA provider. The home may be owned and managed by a separate SDA provider. We deliver the participant’s agreed daily and clinical supports inside the home.

We support NDIS participants across Parramatta, Western Sydney and the wider Sydney metropolitan area.

SDA Is the Dwelling

SDA funding relates to the specialised property, design category and enrolled dwelling.

SIL Is the Support

SIL support may include staffing, personal care, household help and overnight support.

Separate Provider Roles

The SDA provider, SIL provider and clinical providers may be different organisations.

Person-Centred Review

Our SDA Support Coordination Process

Before support starts, each organisation’s role must be clear so dwelling, tenancy and support responsibilities are not confused.

Clear, documented approach

Responsibilities, risks, documentation and escalation pathways are confirmed before support begins.

During planning we may review
1

Confirm the SDA dwelling provider, tenancy arrangements and participant consent

2

Review SIL, personal care, clinical and overnight support needs

3

Clarify accessibility equipment, maintenance and property reporting contacts

4

Assess household compatibility and shared-support arrangements where relevant

5

Prepare support workers, care plans, BSP implementation and escalation pathways

6

Commence support and review coordination after move-in or service changes

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about service scope, planning, provider roles and support arrangements.

Are you the SDA property provider?

This page does not represent Holistic Care NSW as the owner or registered provider of the SDA dwelling. It describes support services delivered in homes provided by separate SDA or property providers.

What is the difference between SDA and SIL?

SDA is the specialised dwelling. SIL is the support delivered in the home, such as personal care, daily routines, household assistance and overnight staffing.

Can I choose a different SIL provider from my SDA provider?

Provider arrangements depend on the tenancy, service agreements and participant choice. SDA and SIL are separate NDIS supports and may be delivered by different organisations.

Can you support someone already living in SDA?

Potentially, yes. We can review support needs, funding, location, provider roles, compatibility and staffing availability.

Who handles property repairs?

Repairs and dwelling maintenance are generally the responsibility of the SDA or property provider, not the support worker. The correct reporting contact should be documented.

Can you provide complex care in an SDA home?

Community nursing, high intensity support and participant-specific staff training may be coordinated when clinically appropriate and included in the service arrangement.
